We usually use macaroni for soup, but it turns out tasted delicious for making snack too. I’ve tried to make a snack made from macaroni, called Fried Mac and Cheese Balls. The ingredients are easy to get and the process is so simple. This Fried Mac and Cheese Balls recipe is almost same with Macaroni Schootel recipe.

I made this Mac and Cheese in round shape filled with cheese inside, and then I rolled it in the bread crumb. So, the taste is chruncy outside and cheesy inside. This recipe I got from my friend’s blog, Ingga. Fried Mac and Cheese Ball

(English Version)

Ingredient :
200 g macaroni
300 cc milk
100 g corned beef
2 tablespoons minced yellow onion
1 teaspoons ground nutmeg, or to taste
1 teaspoons ground pepper, or to taste
1 teaspoons salt, or to taste
1 teaspoons sugar, or to taste
1 teaspoons corn starch, mixed with water
1 tablespoons margarine
mozarela or quick melt cheese, to taste
1 egg, whipped
bread crumb
wheat flour

Direction :
1. Cook macaroni until al dante(not overcook). Drain.
2. Saute the yellow onion in melted margarine until lightly browned.
3. Add corned beef, cook for about 3 minute.
4. Pour the milk, cook until boiled.
5. Add macaroni, salt, sugar, pepper, nutmeg and corn starch. Cook until thickened and creamy.
6. Turn off the stove. Wait until cold.
7. Shape the Mac & Cheese into meatball sized balls, filled with mozarela.
8. Roll the Mac and Cheese Ball in the wheat flour, then dip them in the whipped egg, an the last roll again in the breadcrumbs.
9. Fry them in low heat until they start becoming golden brown.

(Versi Bahasa Indonesia)

Bahan :
200 gr makaroni, direbus sampai matang, jangan sampai lembek/overcook (aldante)
300 ml susu
100 gr kornet, bisa diganti atau ditambah daging giling atau daging asap
pala, merica, garam, gula pasir secukupnya, haluskan
1/2 siung bawang bombay, cincang halus
1 sdm mentega untuk menumis
keju quic melt secukupnya dipotong kotak-kotak untuk isian
1 sdt tepung maizena, dilarutkan

Cara Membuat :
1. Tumis bawang bombay, merica, pala, garam dan gula sampai harum.
2. Masukkan kornet, tumis sampai matang.
3. Masukkan susu dan makaroni.
4. Masak sampai mendidih, lalu tambahkan tepung maizena sampai adonan kental dan lengket.
5. Matikan api, tunggu sampai adonan dingin.
6. Bentuk adonan bulat-bulat, kemudian isi dengan keju di tengahnya.
7. Baluri adonan dengan tepung terigu, masukkan ke kocokan telur, lalu baluri dengan tepung panir.
8. Goreng sampai kecoklatan.
